Medlz in Dresden

Medlz is a German a cappella group formed in Dresden in 1999 under the name nonets. Its original members had sung in the Dresden Philharmonic Children’s Choir. The group became mëdlz in 2005 and adopted its present spelling in 2009; its releases include “Samtweich,” “Aufgetaucht,” “Unsere Zeit” and the concert album “von Mozart bis Mercury Live.” In 2002, still performing as nonets, the singers opened a benefit concert for victims of the Elbe floods, then won bronze at the International A Cappella Competition in Graz the following year. They toured with Karat in 2006 and established the Dresden A Cappella Festival in 2007. Their later festival appearances included Freiburg’s Zelt-Musik-Festival in 2018.
