Melvin Taylor in Evanston

Melvin Taylor is an American electric-blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, born in Jackson, Mississippi, and raised in Chicago. Known for fast, jazz-inflected lead guitar, he has recorded both under his own name and with the Slack Band; his albums include Dirty Pool and Bang That Bell. Early in his career, Melvin Taylor played in clubs with pianist Pinetop Perkins before taking his own music to European audiences. He later formed the Slack Band and developed a long association with Chicago blues club Rosa’s Lounge.
