About Mercury Rev
Mercury Rev are an American rock band formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1989. The early albums Yerself Is Steam and Boces established their experimental, noise-heavy psychedelia, while the chamber-pop arrangements of Deserter’s Songs made it their best-known record. “Goddess on a Hiway,” “Holes” and “The Dark Is Rising” are among the songs most closely associated with the band.
Mercury Rev joined the traveling Lollapalooza tour in 1993 while supporting their early records. In 2018, they marked the 20th anniversary of Deserter’s Songs with a tour that presented the album in full. That tour included a United Kingdom leg with concerts in London and Manchester.
