Michael Franti & Spearhead in Salt Lake City

Michael Franti & Spearhead is an American group led by singer, songwriter and guitarist Michael Franti, who formed the band in San Francisco in 1994. Their music draws on hip-hop, reggae, funk and soul, while Franti’s lyrics frequently address politics, community and social justice. The group is known for songs including “Say Hey (I Love You),” “The Sound of Sunshine” and “Everyone Deserves Music.” Michael Franti founded the Power to the Peaceful festival in San Francisco, where Spearhead performed at the recurring event in Golden Gate Park. The group later appeared at Bonnaroo and has returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for full-band concerts.
