Artist
Michael Monroe is a Finnish singer, saxophonist and harmonica player, born in Helsinki in 1962. He co-founded Hanoi Rocks and became known as the glam-punk band’s frontman through songs including “Tragedy” and “Malibu Beach Nightmare.” His solo catalogue includes the albums Not Fakin’ It, Sensory Overdrive and One Man Gang, as well as the song “Dead, Jail or Rock ’n’ Roll.” In 2009, Michael Monroe concluded the reunited Hanoi Rocks’ live work with farewell concerts at Tavastia in Helsinki. He introduced a new solo band the following year and supported Motörhead on a UK tour, establishing the full-band format that has carried his later club, theatre and festival shows. Michael Monroe leads the concerts on vocals and also plays saxophone and harmonica during the set. His performances draw on both his solo records and the Hanoi Rocks catalogue. He has performed at Download Festival in England and made repeat appearances at Ruisrock in Finland.
