Michelle Gurevich is a Canadian singer-songwriter born in Toronto who makes dark, slow-moving art pop. She first recorded as Chinawoman, then began using her own name in 2016. Her best-known work includes the albums Party Girl and New Decadence, and songs such as “Party Girl,” “Lovers Are Strangers” and “First Six Months of Love.” Michelle Gurevich began touring under the Chinawoman name and later carried that catalogue into concerts billed under her own name. She performs with a live band, drawing material from both phases of her recording career. Much of her concert history has been centred on Europe: she has returned for shows in Berlin and Warsaw, while Istanbul has also become an important market for her live work.
