MIYAVI in Nagoya

MIYAVI is a Japanese rock guitarist, singer-songwriter and actor, born in Osaka in 1981. After playing in the visual kei band Dué le Quartz, he began a solo career in 2002 and became known for a percussive electric-guitar technique built around finger slaps. His catalogue includes “What’s My Name?,” “Horizon,” the self-titled album MIYAVI and The Others; he also portrayed Mutsuhiro Watanabe in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken. The 2008 This Iz the Japanese Kabuki Rock Tour took his solo show outside Japan. He followed it with the Neo Tokyo Samurai Black World Tour in 2010, while Slap the World Tour carried material from MIYAVI through club, theatre and festival dates in 2014. The 2017 Fire Bird World Tour extended that international concert history. His concerts place his vocals and electric guitar at the center of a compact rock-band setup, making the slap technique a musical and visual focus. Drummer BOBO has been a recurring partner in that format.
