moe. & Umphrey's McGee in Highland Park

moe. is an American rock band formed in Buffalo in 1989. Its music combines guitar-driven rock, psychedelia and extended improvisation, and its catalog includes “Rebubula,” “Plane Crash” and “Nebraska,” as well as the albums No Doy, Tin Cans and Car Tires and Wormwood. In 2000, moe. launched moe.down, a recurring festival staged for many editions at Snow Ridge in Turin, New York. The band also became closely associated with Summer Camp Music Festival at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois, where it performed repeatedly with Umphrey’s McGee. The concert lineup centers on guitarists Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey, bassist and vocalist Rob Derhak, drummer Vinnie Amico and percussionist Jim Loughlin. Sets draw on a rotating repertoire, and songs such as “Rebubula” can open into extended group improvisation. Colorado concerts have taken moe. to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, while its theatre dates have included the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

Umphrey's McGee is an American progressive rock and jam band formed in South Bend, Indiana, in 1997. The group is known for intricate compositions, extended improvisation and albums including Anchor Drops, Mantis and Similar Skin, as well as songs such as “In the Kitchen,” “Bridgeless” and “1348.” The band introduced UMBowl in 2010, creating an interactive concert in which audience choices help shape the performance. It became a recurring event, while repeated multi-night runs at Red Rocks Amphitheatre established another substantial part of the group’s live history. A typical Umphrey's McGee concert features the six-piece electric lineup and often unfolds over two sets. The musicians move between tightly arranged passages and open improvisation, including cue-led sections known as “Jimmy Stewarts.” Umphrey's McGee has performed across many editions of Summer Camp Music Festival and has also appeared at Bonnaroo. The band has taken its live sets aboard multiple Jam Cruise voyages.
