Mohammad Assaf is a Palestinian pop singer, born in Misrata, Libya, in 1989 and raised in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in Gaza. After beginning his career at weddings and private events, he won the second season of Arab Idol in 2013. His recordings include “Ana Dammi Falastini,” and his story inspired Hany Abu-Assad’s 2015 film The Idol. Mohammad Assaf performed in the stage production Clusters of Light in Sharjah, extending his live work beyond solo concert appearances. In 2021, he also took part in the benefit concert Live for Gaza.
