New Cool Collective in Hengelo

New Cool Collective is a Dutch jazz-funk ensemble founded in 1993 by saxophonist Benjamin Herman. Its horn-led music draws on jazz, funk, soul and Latin rhythms, heard on records including More! Soul Jazz Latin Flavours Nineties Vibes and the Tony Allen collaboration Trippin’. The group performs as an eight-piece ensemble and as New Cool Collective Big Band. New Cool Collective began with weekly sessions at Amsterdam club Soul Kitchen. The musicians later took their compact lineup and big-band arrangements to theatres and festivals, including North Sea Jazz and Lowlands.
