Nik West in Copenhagen

Nik West is an American bassist, singer and songwriter from Phoenix whose solo music draws on funk, soul and R&B. Her slap-bass playing and vocals are central to releases including Just in the Nik of Time, Moody and the song “Purple Unicorn.” Dave Stewart brought West on tour as a bassist, and she later worked and performed with Prince at Paisley Park. As a bandleader, she sings and plays bass at the front of a full band, a format documented by her NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert.
