Nile is an American technical death metal band formed in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1993 by guitarist and vocalist Karl Sanders. The group is known for intricate, high-speed death metal shaped by ancient Egyptian history and mythology, particularly on albums such as Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka, Black Seeds of Vengeance and Annihilation of the Wicked. Nile performed on Ozzfest in 2007, bringing its dense material to the festival’s touring stages. A decade later, the band toured North America with Overkill.
Coroner is a Swiss technical thrash metal band formed in Zurich in 1983. The group is known for intricate guitar work, abrupt rhythmic shifts and albums including Punishment for Decadence, No More Color, Mental Vortex and Grin; “Masked Jackal” and “Die by My Hand” are among its best-known songs. In 1990, Coroner filmed the concert release Live in East Berlin. After re-forming in 2010, the band returned to the stage the following year and performed at Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore and Hellfest in Clisson.
