Nine Pound Hammer is an American punk band formed in Owensboro, Kentucky, in 1985 by vocalist Scott Luallen and guitarist Blaine Cartwright. They play hard, fast cowpunk shaped by garage rock, rockabilly and Southern country, and are known for albums including The Mud, the Blood, and the Beers, Smokin’ Taters! and Hayseed Timebomb. After reuniting in 2000, Nine Pound Hammer resumed performing in the club circuit where the band had established its live reputation. Their earlier European stage history is preserved on the concert album Live at the VERA, recorded at Vera in Groningen.
