About Orbital
Orbital is a British electronic duo formed in 1989 in Sevenoaks, Kent, by brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. They play techno, ambient house and breakbeat, and are known for tracks including “Chime,” “Belfast” and “Halcyon + On + On,” as well as the second self-titled album commonly called the Brown Album and 1996’s In Sides.
Orbital performed at Glastonbury Festival in 1994, a concert closely associated with the arrival of electronic acts on the event’s main stages, and appeared at Woodstock ’94 later that year. The duo disbanded in 2004, reunited in 2009 and toured the album Wonky in 2012, including a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
The show is a live electronic performance built around synthesizers, sequencers and mixers, with tracks reconstructed for the stage. Illuminated glasses have been a visual signature of performances by Phil and Paul Hartnoll since the 1990s.
