Orchestra Baobab is a Senegalese band formed in Dakar in 1970 as the house band of Club Baobab. They play Afro-Cuban dance music rooted in Cuban son and Senegalese traditions, and are known for the album Pirates Choice and songs including “Utrus Horas” and “Bul Ma Miin.” In 2001, Orchestra Baobab reunited after a long hiatus and returned to international stages around the release of Specialist in All Styles. The full band subsequently performed at Glastonbury Festival and WOMAD.
