Os Paralamas Do Sucesso & Frejat in São Paulo

Os Paralamas Do Sucesso are a Brazilian rock trio formed in 1982 and built around Herbert Vianna, Bi Ribeiro and João Barone. Their music pairs guitar rock with ska and reggae rhythms, and their best-known songs include “Meu Erro,” “Óculos,” “Alagados” and “Lanterna dos Afogados.” The albums O Passo do Lui and Selvagem? established much of this repertoire. At the inaugural Rock in Rio in 1985, the band performed for an audience far beyond the clubs where it had begun. Two years later, Os Paralamas Do Sucesso appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and that performance became the live album D. In 2007, they joined Titãs at Marina da Glória for the concert project Paralamas e Titãs Juntos e Ao Vivo. The band plays most often in Brazil and also performs in Argentina and Chile.

Frejat is a Brazilian singer, guitarist and songwriter, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1962, who co-founded the rock band Barão Vermelho. His work with Cazuza produced songs including “Pro Dia Nascer Feliz” and “Bete Balanço”; his solo catalogue includes “Amor pra Recomeçar” and “Segredos.” Frejat appeared with Barão Vermelho at the inaugural Rock in Rio in 1985, during the period when the group established its national audience. He later carried songs from the band and his solo records into his own concerts, documented by the concert project MTV ao Vivo.
