Oscar D'León in Mexico City

Oscar D'León is a Venezuelan salsa singer, bandleader and bassist, born in Caracas in 1943. He co-founded La Dimensión Latina in the early 1970s and recorded “Llorarás” with the group before leading his own orchestra. His repertoire also includes “Detalles” and “Mi Bajo y Yo.” In 1983, Oscar D'León performed in Cuba during the Varadero International Festival. More than three decades later, he appeared at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in 2015, extending a concert history built around major Latin music festivals and orchestra-led shows. At his concerts, Oscar D'León leads a salsa orchestra, sings, improvises soneos and plays bass as part of the performance.
