Our Lady Peace is a Canadian alternative-rock band formed in Toronto in 1992. Fronted by singer Raine Maida, the group is known for the albums Naveed, Clumsy and Spiritual Machines, and for songs including “Superman’s Dead,” “Clumsy,” “4 AM” and “Somewhere Out There.” In 1998, Our Lady Peace launched Summersault as a Canadian touring festival, then staged a larger edition in 2000 featuring Foo Fighters, the Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle. Between those editions, the band performed at Woodstock ’99; in 2005, it took part in the Canadian Live 8 concert in Barrie. The band’s Canadian festival record also includes performances at Edgefest and Ottawa Bluesfest.
The Verve Pipe is an American alternative rock band formed in East Lansing, Michigan, in 1992. The 1996 album Villains produced the band’s best-known songs, “The Freshmen” and “Photograph,” pairing guitar-driven rock with Brian Vander Ark’s songwriting and vocals. During the Villains era, The Verve Pipe opened selected arena dates for Kiss on the Alive/Worldwide Tour. After those appearances, the group returned to headline clubs and theatres, performing its catalogue as a full band led by singer and guitarist Brian Vander Ark.
