Ozomatli in Solana Beach

Ozomatli is an American band formed in Los Angeles in 1995. Its music draws on Latin dance rhythms, hip-hop, funk and rock, heard on albums including Ozomatli, Embrace the Chaos and Street Signs, and in songs such as “Cut Chemist Suite,” “Saturday Night” and “City of Angels.” Ozomatli toured as an opening act for Santana around the turn of the millennium, bringing the group to larger concert audiences. The band later documented its stage work on Live at the Fillmore, recorded at the San Francisco venue, and in 2007 began performing abroad as cultural ambassadors for the U.S. State Department. The concerts feature a full band of vocalists, rappers, brass players, percussionists, guitar, bass and turntables. Ozomatli have also made processions through the audience with drums and horns a recurring part of their shows. The band has played Bonnaroo in Tennessee and traveled to Japan for Fuji Rock Festival.
