Paddy Goes To Holyhead is a German folk-rock band formed in Darmstadt in 1988 by singer and guitarist Joey Albrecht. Its repertoire draws on Irish and Celtic folk, with “Bound Around” and “Johnny Went to War” among its best-known songs; key releases include Ready for Paddy? and E. & O.E.. The group began playing German pubs, clubs and folk festivals in 1988, presenting the material with a full electric band. Singer Mark Patrick fronted a later lineup, and subsequent concerts again featured founder Joey Albrecht on lead vocals and guitar.
