Pansy Division is an American queercore punk band formed in San Francisco in 1991 by singer-guitarist Jon Ginoli. The band writes direct, humorous songs about gay life and desire, including “Fem in a Black Leather Jacket” and “Bunnies”; its best-known early albums include Undressed and Deflowered. In 1994, Pansy Division opened an extended run of Green Day’s Dookie Tour, taking its songs beyond independent punk clubs into larger venues. The band later returned to club touring around the albums That’s So Gay and Quite Contrary. The group performs guitar-led punk with shared lead vocals from longtime members Jon Ginoli and Chris Freeman.
