Pat Metheny in Ridgefield

Pat Metheny is an American jazz guitarist and composer, born in 1954 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He first recorded as a leader on Bright Size Life and established the Pat Metheny Group with keyboardist Lyle Mays. His best-known compositions include “Phase Dance,” “Are You Going with Me?” and “Last Train Home,” and his work ranges across modern jazz, jazz fusion and guitar-synthesizer music. The Way Up tour in 2005 centered on the Pat Metheny Group’s album-length suite. In 2010, Orchestrion concerts placed him alone among mechanically controlled acoustic instruments, followed in 2012 by the Unity Band tour with Chris Potter, Ben Williams and Antonio Sánchez. His later Side-Eye project used a rotating trio format and was recorded at Sony Hall in New York in 2019. He has toured repeatedly in the United States and Japan, and he also performs across Italy and Spain.
