Manu Delago in Chicago

Manu Delago is an Austrian percussionist, composer and hang player, born in Innsbruck in 1984. His instrumental music draws on ambient electronics, chamber textures and intricate percussion; “Mono Desire” introduced his solo hang playing to a wide audience, while albums including Handmade, Silver Kobalt and Metromonk developed his ensemble-based work. He has also recorded with Björk and sitar player Anoushka Shankar. Manu Delago performed in Björk’s touring ensemble for the Biophilia Tour and returned for the Vulnicura Tour. He later toured with Anoushka Shankar in support of Land of Gold, then developed concerts around his own compositions for hang, percussion and electronics. For the ReCycling Tour, he and his ensemble travelled between concerts by bicycle, carrying their instruments and equipment on trailers.
