Perla Batalla in Arroyo Grande

Perla Batalla is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles whose music draws on folk, pop and Latin American traditions. She became known through her work as a backing vocalist for Leonard Cohen and through solo albums including Mestiza, Discoteca Batalla and the Cohen tribute Bird on the Wire. Batalla toured internationally as one of Leonard Cohen’s backing vocalists in the late 1980s and early 1990s, following her contributions to I’m Your Man and The Future. She later brought his repertoire to theatres and performing-arts centres in her own concert production, The House of Cohen.
