About Pete Rock

Pete Rock is an American hip-hop producer, DJ and rapper, born in 1970 and raised in Mount Vernon, New York. With CL Smooth, he recorded the 1992 album Mecca and the Soul Brother and its signature track “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.).” His catalog also includes the solo album Soul Survivor and his production for Nas’s “The World Is Yours.”

In 2012, Pete Rock and CL Smooth toured together to mark the twentieth anniversary of Mecca and the Soul Brother. Pete Rock handled the decks while CL Smooth rapped, and the concerts returned the album’s songs to a shared set by Pete Rock and CL Smooth.
