About Peter Maffay
Peter Maffay is a German rock singer and songwriter, born in 1949 in Brașov, Romania. After beginning with pop and schlager, he became known through the 1970 song “Du” and moved toward German-language rock on albums including Steppenwolf and Revanche. He also built a long-running series of concept albums and stage productions around the character Tabaluga.
Peter Maffay has repeatedly toured the Tabaluga works as staged family productions. In 2018, the MTV Unplugged tour carried the acoustic arrangements from his television recording into arenas; the We Love Rock ’n’ Roll tour followed in 2024 with a set drawn from across his rock catalogue.
He has played successive arena tours in Frankfurt and Cologne, as well as major concert dates in Munich.
