Plácido Domingo is a Spanish opera singer and conductor, born in Madrid in 1941. He established his career as a tenor through roles including Otello in Verdi’s opera, Don José in Carmen and Cavaradossi in Tosca, later adding baritone roles to his repertoire. He also reached a wider audience as a member of the Three Tenors. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1968 as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur and went on to appear at major opera houses for decades. In 1990 he joined José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti for the first Three Tenors concert at the Baths of Caracalla in Rome. The trio reunited for another World Cup concert at Dodger Stadium in 1994.
Josep Carreras is a Spanish operatic tenor, born in Barcelona in 1946. His repertoire is closely associated with lyric roles such as Rodolfo in La bohème, Cavaradossi in Tosca and Don José in Carmen, while his concerts with Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo introduced him to an audience beyond the opera house. He returned to the Gran Teatre del Liceu as an adult in 1970, singing Flavio in Norma. Engagements at the Royal Opera House and the Metropolitan Opera followed. In 1990, he joined Pavarotti and Domingo for the first Three Tenors concert at the Baths of Caracalla in Rome; the trio reunited for the 1994 concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
