Poi Dog Pondering in Sonoma

Poi Dog Pondering is an American band formed in Honolulu in 1984 and led by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Frank Orrall. Its music ranges across folk-rock, pop, soul and electronic dance music. The band is known for albums including Poi Dog Pondering, Wishing Like a Mountain and Thinking Like the Sea and Volo Volo, as well as songs such as “Living with the Dreaming Body” and “Complicated.” The group began by performing on the streets of Waikiki and later played clubs after relocating to Austin. After settling in Chicago, its concert lineup expanded into a large ensemble that could include strings, horns and dancers. The band has returned for recurring hometown concerts at Metro.
