Popa Chubby in Bay Shore

Popa Chubby is the stage name of American guitarist and singer Ted Horowitz, who was born in the Bronx in 1960. He plays electric blues and blues rock centred on lead guitar, and his catalogue includes the albums Booty and the Beast, Brooklyn Basement Blues and How’d a White Boy Get the Blues?. Electric Chubbyland is his album-length treatment of songs associated with Jimi Hendrix. The live album Hit the High Hard One documented his concert repertoire in the 1990s, followed by Big Man, Big Guitar and further recordings made onstage. He performs as a singer-guitarist backed by a rhythm section, and Live at FIP captures that format in a French radio concert recorded in Paris.
