About Portland Cello Project
Portland Cello Project is an American cello ensemble formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2006. It plays cello arrangements of classical music, indie rock, pop and hip-hop. Its catalogue includes the hip-hop-focused Homage, the Elliott Smith tribute to e.s. and an interpretation of Radiohead’s OK Computer.
The ensemble has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and has taken its repertoire into clubs, theatres and festivals on tour. Its multi-cellist lineup often adds guest singers and rhythm players for themed programs, including complete performances of OK Computer and concerts devoted to Prince.
