Prayers in Atlanta

Prayers is an American electronic duo formed in San Diego in 2013 by vocalist Rafael Reyes and producer Dave Parley. Their darkwave and post-punk sound is identified as “cholo goth,” a term Reyes coined for the project. Releases including SD Killwave, the Travis Barker-produced Young Gods EP and Baptism of Thieves established the duo, alongside songs such as “Gothic Summer” and “Black Leather.” Prayers performed at Coachella in 2016, presenting Rafael Reyes’s vocals over Dave Parley’s electronic production. They later appeared at the inaugural Cruel World festival in Pasadena in 2022, among a lineup focused on goth, new wave and post-punk.
