Psychedelic Furs & The Jesus and Mary Chain in London

Psychedelic Furs are a British post-punk and new wave band formed in London in 1977 by brothers Richard and Tim Butler. They are known for songs including “Pretty in Pink,” “Love My Way,” “Heaven” and “The Ghost in You,” and for albums such as Talk Talk Talk and Forever Now. “Pretty in Pink” also gave its name to John Hughes’s 1986 film. Psychedelic Furs reunited in 2000 after an extended hiatus and returned to touring theatres and festivals. Following the release of Made of Rain, their first studio album in nearly three decades, they took the record on tour and joined Squeeze for a co-headlining North American run in 2023.

The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride in 1983 by brothers Jim and William Reid. They paired pop melodies with guitar feedback and distortion on the debut album Psychocandy, which includes “Just Like Honey” and “Never Understand”; later records produced songs including “April Skies” and “Head On.” In 1985, a brief concert at North London Polytechnic ended in disorder, becoming a widely reported episode from the band’s early live history. The Jesus and Mary Chain broke up in 1998 and reunited to perform at Coachella in 2007. In 2014 they began anniversary concerts built around playing Psychocandy in full, later taking the album-focused show beyond the UK as the Psychocandy Live tour.
