Pop Will Eat Itself in Stourbridge

Pop Will Eat Itself are a British band formed in Stourbridge in 1986. Their sample-driven alternative rock draws on hip-hop rhythms and industrial electronics, and they became known for songs including “Def. Con. One,” “Can U Dig It?” and “Get the Girl! Kill the Baddies!,” as well as the album This Is the Day...This Is the Hour...This Is This! Pop Will Eat Itself performed at Reading Festival in 1991 during the period that also produced Cure for Sanity. After the group split in 1996, a 2005 reunion brought the original lineup back to Rock City in Nottingham and then Birmingham Academy.
