Queens of the Stone Age is an American rock band founded by singer and guitarist Josh Homme in 1996, with roots in the desert-rock scene around Palm Desert, California. The group is known for the albums Rated R, Songs for the Deaf and ...Like Clockwork, and for songs including “No One Knows,” “Go with the Flow” and “Little Sister.” Queens of the Stone Age played Glastonbury in 2002 while touring Songs for the Deaf. On the Villains World Tour in 2017 and 2018, the group played arenas and large theatres; The End Is Nero began in 2023 and included a show at The O2 in London. The band has headlined Madison Square Garden in New York and performed at Belgium’s Rock Werchter.
Pixies are an American alternative rock band formed in Boston in 1986 by Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal and David Lovering. Their sharp shifts between restrained verses and loud guitar passages became a hallmark of albums including Surfer Rosa and Doolittle. Their best-known songs include “Where Is My Mind?,” “Debaser,” “Here Comes Your Man” and “Monkey Gone to Heaven.” Their 2004 reunion began at the Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis and led to an appearance at Coachella that year. In 2009, Pixies launched the Doolittle Tour, performing the album in full alongside its related B-sides. They later returned to extensive arena and amphitheatre touring, including co-headlining North American dates with Weezer.
