About RC & The Gritz

RC & The Gritz is an American band formed in Dallas around keyboardist and musical director RC Williams. The group plays hip-hop, jazz, soul and R&B, and is known for its work with Erykah Badu as well as its own albums Pay Your Tab and The Feel; the latter includes “Leave Me Alone,” featuring Badu.

RC & The Gritz established a long-running Wednesday-night residency at The Prophet Bar, where the musicians developed material through full-band sets and guest performances. Their work as Badu’s touring band also led to their backing her for a 2018 Tiny Desk Concert at NPR Music.
