Renaud in Pau

Renaud is a French singer-songwriter, born in Paris in 1952, whose chanson and folk-rock songs draw on colloquial language, social commentary and personal storytelling. His best-known work includes “Laisse béton,” “Dans mon HLM,” “Morgane de toi” and “Mistral gagnant,” as well as the Axelle Red duet “Manhattan-Kaboul” from the album Boucan d’enfer. Renaud’s 1980 performances at Bobino were preserved on a live album, establishing an early concert record of his repertoire. The Tournée d’enfer followed Boucan d’enfer, while his later return to large venues was marked by the Phénix Tour. He subsequently recast his songs for piano and strings on the theatre production Dans mes cordes.
