Richard Galliano is a French accordionist and composer, born in Cannes in 1950, whose music draws on jazz, tango and the Parisian musette tradition. His “new musette” approach places jazz improvisation and tango phrasing inside accordion-led waltzes; the album New Musette and the composition “Tango pour Claude” are central works in his catalogue. The Piazzolla Forever project became a concert program for Galliano’s septet, built around the music of Astor Piazzolla. He later joined Wynton Marsalis for a festival concert released as From Billie Holiday to Edith Piaf: Live in Marciac.
