Richard Spaven in Manchester

Richard Spaven is a British drummer, composer and producer whose rhythmically intricate jazz draws on hip-hop, broken beat and electronic music. He is known for his work with José James, Flying Lotus and The Cinematic Orchestra, as well as his own albums Spaven’s 5ive, Whole Other*, The Self and Spirit Beats. Richard Spaven has toured internationally as the drummer in José James’s band, extending a studio partnership heard on No Beginning No End to concert halls and festivals. He has also performed with Flying Lotus and The Cinematic Orchestra, while shows under his own name place his drumming at the centre of a compact instrumental ensemble. His leader dates have included appearances at Ronnie Scott’s in London.
