Roberto Fonseca in Bucharest

Roberto Fonseca is a Cuban pianist and composer, born in Havana in 1975. He plays Afro-Cuban jazz that also draws on funk and electronic music. His work with the Buena Vista Social Club introduced him to a broad international audience, while albums including Zamazu, Yo and ABUC established his catalogue as a bandleader. Roberto Fonseca toured internationally as the pianist in Ibrahim Ferrer’s band before leading his own ensembles. Live in Marciac documents one of his solo piano concerts at Jazz in Marciac, and he later developed a concert collaboration with Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, captured on the live album At Home.
