Robyn Hitchcock in Cambridge

Robyn Hitchcock is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in London in 1953. He first became known as the frontman of the Soft Boys, whose album Underwater Moonlight and songs including “I Wanna Destroy You” established his psychedelic rock and jangle-pop songwriting. His solo catalogue includes I Often Dream of Trains, Globe of Frogs and “Madonna of the Wasps,” alongside records made with the Egyptians. In 1989, Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians opened dates on R.E.M.’s Green tour. Jonathan Demme later filmed his performances in a vacant New York storefront for the concert film Storefront Hitchcock, released in 1998. He reunited with the Soft Boys for touring in 2001, then toured and recorded with the Venus 3, featuring Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Bill Rieflin.
