Roddy Woomble is a Scottish singer-songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of Idlewild, the rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1995. He sings on tracks including “American English” and “You Held the World in Your Arms.” His folk-oriented solo catalogue began with My Secret Is My Silence and later included The Impossible Song & Other Songs and Lo! Soul.

After the collaborative album Before the Ruin, he toured with folk musicians Kris Drever and John McCusker as Drever McCusker Woomble. His solo concerts have also focused on material outside his band work, and Live in the Inner Hebrides documents that side of his performances in a recording made at An Tobar on the Isle of Mull.
