Steve Knightley is an English folk singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Southampton in 1954 and raised in East Devon. He is best known as the singer and principal songwriter in Show of Hands, his long-running partnership with multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer. His songs include “Country Life,” “Cousin Jack,” “Roots” and “The Galway Farmer.”

In 1996, Show of Hands staged its first concert at the Royal Albert Hall, later returning for several major performances, including a 25th-anniversary concert in 2017. Alongside the group’s theatre tours, Knightley has toured Britain as a solo acoustic performer, building sets around his songs and the stories behind them.

His festival appearances with Show of Hands have included Glastonbury Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival.
