Rodrigo Leão is a Portuguese composer and pianist, born in Lisbon in 1964. A co-founder of Sétima Legião and Madredeus, he later developed a solo catalogue of chamber music, ambient electronics and Portuguese song. His best-known albums include Ave Mundi Luminar, Alma Mater, Cinema and A Mãe; his recordings have also featured Beth Gibbons and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

His early solo performances were built around Rodrigo Leão & Vox Ensemble, whose voices shaped his first album. He later brought his music to theatres and festivals under the Rodrigo Leão & Cinema Ensemble billing, performing at piano and keyboards among strings, voices and electronic textures. He also presented the collaborative album Life Is Long in concert with Scott Matthew.
