Ronnie McDowell is an American country singer, born in Portland, Tennessee, in 1950. He became known through “The King Is Gone,” his 1977 tribute to Elvis Presley, and later country hits including “Older Women,” “Watchin’ Girls Go By” and “You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation.” He also provided Presley’s singing voice for the 1979 television film Elvis, starring Kurt Russell.

Ronnie McDowell has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and keeps songs associated with Presley in his concert repertoire alongside his own country recordings. His Elvis-focused stage work has included performances with The Jordanaires, the vocal group heard on many of Presley’s records.
