Roy Chubby Brown in Newcastle upon Tyne

Roy Chubby Brown is an English stand-up comedian, born Royston Vasey in Middlesbrough in 1945. He is known for adult blue comedy built around profanity, sex jokes and deliberately anti-PC material, delivered in a patchwork suit, flying helmet and goggles. Live releases including From Inside the Helmet and The Helmet Rides Again captured the act for home video. Roy Chubby Brown built his early audience in working men’s clubs across north-east England before moving into sustained theatre touring around Britain. Those stage shows also supplied the material for a long series of live videos and DVDs. He later played theatres in Newcastle upon Tyne and returned for seaside engagements in Blackpool.
