Ruby Turner in Salford

Ruby Turner is a Jamaican-born British soul and R&B singer who grew up in Birmingham and began her recording career in the 1980s. Her best-known releases include her version of “I’d Rather Go Blind,” “If You’re Ready (Come Go with Me)” and “It’s Gonna Be Alright,” as well as the album Women Hold Up Half the Sky. Turner toured with Culture Club, Bryan Ferry and UB40 during the early part of her career. Since 2006 she has been a featured vocalist with Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, performing on its UK concert tours and appearing on the annual television special Jools’ Annual Hootenanny.
