Sage Francis is an American rapper and spoken-word artist from Providence, Rhode Island, known for alternative and underground hip-hop built around personal and political writing. He founded Strange Famous Records and released albums including Personal Journals, A Healthy Distrust, Human the Death Dance and Copper Gone. “Makeshift Patriot” and “Sea Lion” are among his best-known tracks.

The 2001 Fuck Clear Channel Tour took him across the United States with Atmosphere. He later played the Vans Warped Tour and toured clubs internationally behind his solo records, combining rap material with the spoken-word work that preceded his recording career. His later stage work included concerts with B. Dolan as the duo Epic Beard Men.
