Samael in Nicosia

Samael is a Swiss metal band formed in Sion in 1987 by brothers Vorph and Xy. The group began with stark black metal on Worship Him, then introduced industrial rhythms, keyboards and programmed elements across Ceremony of Opposites and Passage; songs including “Jupiterian Vibe” and “Rain” became central to its catalogue. A 1996 concert in Krakow from the Passage period and a 2002 performance at Summer Breeze were later preserved on the Black Trip DVD. The band subsequently brought material from its black-metal and industrial periods to large outdoor stages at Wacken Open Air and Hellfest.
