Sananda Maitreya is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who first became known as Terence Trent D’Arby. His 1987 debut album, Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D’Arby, produced “Wishing Well,” “Sign Your Name,” “If You Let Me Stay” and “Dance Little Sister.” He legally adopted the name Sananda Maitreya in 2001. At the 1987 Montreux Jazz Festival, he performed songs from his debut album backed by a live band. The following year, he appeared at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute at Wembley Stadium.
