Saxon in Glasgow

Saxon are a British heavy metal band formed in Barnsley in 1975, adopting their present name in 1978. Closely associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, they are known for the albums Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law and Denim and Leather, and for songs including “747 (Strangers in the Night),” “Princess of the Night” and “And the Bands Played On.” Saxon performed at the inaugural Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington in 1980. The Denim and Leather tour followed in 1981, and performances recorded during that period formed the live album The Eagle Has Landed. In 2019, the band marked four decades under the Saxon name with the Castles & Eagles Tour.
